A Chinese site has posted some pictures of Nokia T7 which actually looks a lot like the N8 with slight changes. In the inside you’ll see a 700Mhz processor which is an improvement over the existing 680Mhz processor on the N8.We are not sure what is holding Nokia back from using atleast 1Ghz processor on these phones, but anyway a 20Mhz bump is better than nothing I guess. The pictures came from pcpop and the phone is the T7-00 that first popped up last week. Its basically an N8 with a few things taken out.

The 12MP camera is gone along with that camera bump on the back, instead you get an 8MP shooter with dual LED flash, so no xenon here. The HDMI port is also gone and the micro USB now sits behind a plastic door where the HDMI used to be. Rest of it is pretty much the same, nHD display which is supposedly AMOLED, WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth and Symbian^3 on board.

The unit in the pictures is a TD-SCDMA one which means its meant for China, but a normal 3G version with HSDPA is expected for the rest of the world too. One funny thing, the sticker on the back says Nseries and not Tseries, so we might end up seeing this as an N7 or something!! We’ll keep you posted.

Nokia is making a boost to their presence in the US with the Nokia E7 launch. Nokia E7 is the new communicator from Nokia with 4 inch AMOLED display, 8MP camera with dual LED flash and gorgeous hardware keyboard. For the geeks, it comes with a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor, Broadcom BCM2727 GPU, Symbian^3 on board, pentaband 3G and HDMI out with the cable in the box.

Now the price. Nokia is selling the E7 unlocked from their own online store in the US for $679 !! Thats over $200 more than the N8 which sits on the same store at $450, and both phones share pretty much the same processor and RAM. Pre orders had opened on March 8th and Amazon was listing it too at the same $679 with shipping from March 31st. It works on AT&T and T-Mobile, but as of now theres no word on any carrier picking it up with a subsidy.

We know the E7 hardware is gorgeous, but $679 in a market where people expect a contract and a few hundred dollars shaved off is a tough sell. The famous QT based Facebook app “Kasvopus”(meaning: FaceBook) has received a minor update fixing some serious bugs. From now on, your comments will go under the right status updates. We found the bug in our first test itself and we did not test it further. Today the new version 0.9.5 seems to have fixed the “commenting wrong status” bug, though the developer Tommi Laukkanen says let him know if it still occurs.

Along with that there are a few small changes. The UI has been reworked a bit (he thanks Saurav Srivastava for the design ideas), you can now view the photo from a photo type status update, and you can open the related user’s wall straight from a notification. It cant open the related status yet though. The other useful one is a new offline access right, which should give longer token sessions so you dont have to login to Facebook everyday.

This comes just days after 0.9.4 which added friends walls and photo album browsing, based on a poll he ran. Kasvopus works on Symbian^3 phones like the N8 and on the N900, and it needs Qt 4.7.2 installed. Its still beta and buggy as the developer himself says, but its shaping up well. Now that was fast. While we’re still waiting for iPhone 4 to show up officially in our market, Google Nexus S seems to be getting ready for release here. Recent listing the in the Flipkart site indicates that Google Nexus S will be available in the first week of April and they are accepting pre-orders already. The price listed is Rs. 27,999. Not bad at all for a Google phone, especially since we never got the Nexus One here officially.

If you were wondering, this is the Samsung made phone that Google uses as the lead device for Gingerbread. So you get pure stock Android 2.3 straight from Google (already updated to 2.3.3), that curved glass display and an NFC chip which we dont really have any use for in India as of now. No dual core processor though, so if thats a must for you, the Galaxy S II is the one to wait for. But looks like the Nexus S is going to beat the S2 to our market!!

Its not clear yet whether Samsung has got Google’s nod for an official India launch or if this is just some stock being cleared. Either way its great to see a Nexus phone coming here at last. We’ll update once we know more, so stay tuned. Anyone planning to pre-order??

A few our followers have tweeted us that they’ve found the NoDo update available for their devices. We’ve heard reports of the leaked ROM on internet earlier and now Microsoft seems to be pushing the update to the users. As you might know, a few weeks back Microsoft released an update to make updates go smoother and that one itself gave Samsung Omnia 7 owners a lot of headache. Anyway, Microsoft has now confirmed on the Windows Phone blog that the copy and paste update was kicked off yesterday. Its OS version 7.0.7390 and apart from copy paste, you get faster loading of apps and games, better Marketplace search and a bunch of Wi-Fi, Outlook and Facebook sync fixes. Copy paste is simple, just tap a word, drag the arrows and paste it anywhere you can type.

Now dont go crazy if you havent got it yet. This week its only going to the “open market” phones, thats the unbranded ones which arent customised for any operator. Carrier phones come in the next phase. You’ll get a message on the phone when its ready and then you plug it into Zune and update. Microsoft has also put up a “Where’s my phone update?” page which they say will be updated once a week. We’ll be trying it on our devices soon, so stay tuned!!

The list comes from BGR, who say their source is expecting it within one to two weeks. This is still a rumour, but BGR has been pretty spot on with iOS release dates lately (they were off by a day on the iOS 4.3 date, thats all).

If you were wondering, theres nothing about battery life in that list!! iPhone 4 and 3GS users have been complaining of faster drain ever since updating to 4.3 and some folks are blaming Ping for it. Till Apple sorts it out, you can turn off Ping under Settings > General > Restrictions. Samsung Galaxy S2 is expected to see a “MINI” version called Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini which is expected to be released this April via 3 in the UK. The Galaxy S2 Mini will feature a 3.7″ WVGA Capacitive screen, 5MP camera along with a secondary camera and LED flash, Android Gingerbread on board, GPS and Wi-Fi b/g/n. The interesting bit is the processor. Its a 1.4GHz single core chip, which as Mobile Mentalism points out is 40% faster than last years Galaxy S. So dont let the Mini tag fool you, this isnt another Galaxy Mini type budget phone. GSMArena says its meant to be a proper high end device for people who find the 4.3″ screen on the Galaxy S2 a bit too big. The front camera is VGA and on the data side you get 21Mbps HSDPA and 5.76Mbps HSUPA, so it wont be slow on 3’s network either.

Everybody seems to be on an acquiring spree today. Facebook has confirmed that it will acquire Snaptu, an Israel based app development firm. While everyone tries to make apps for smartphones, Snaptu took the high road and went on creating apps for feature phones. And the end result ?? Success ! The app works on more than 2,500 devices, and if you were wondering, its the same Java based Facebook for Feature Phones app that came out in January. Snaptu built it, and Facebook even tied up with 14 carriers to give free data access through it. Snaptu’s own app does a lot more than Facebook though. You get Twitter, LinkedIn, Picasa, RSS feeds, weather and news on a plain Java phone with no app store.

Nobody is talking money officially, but Israeli papers TheMarker and Calcalist put the deal at around $60 to $70 million, while some reports say its closer to $40 million. The Snaptu guys say on their blog that joining Facebook was “the best opportunity to keep accelerating the pace of our product development”. The deal should close in a few weeks, and the Tel Aviv development office reportedly stays put instead of everyone getting shipped off to Palo Alto.

Snaptu says its whole point since 2007 was the 95 percent of mobile users who dont have a smartphone. Good news for the rest of us then. Stay tuned.
