Coming to the ad itself, this one is called “If You Asked” and Apple put it up on the iPad page and on their YouTube channel on Tuesday. Its a 30 second spot and its the second TV ad for the iPad 2 after the “We Believe” one from early April, which if you remember was all about “technology alone is not enough”. This time its about what the users think of the iPad 2, so the whole ad is Apple finishing the line “If you asked…” again and again. If you ask a parent they might call it intuitive, a musician might call it inspiring, to a doctor its groundbreaking, to a CEO its powerful and to a teacher its the future. The best bit is the ending, “If you ask a child, she might call it magic. And if you asked us, we’d say it’s just getting started.”

Whether it’s a burning platform or not, we will continue to see many phones to come with Symbian in the future. Right now, we have the Nokia X7 for the multimedia enthusiasts and Nokia E6 for the business minded. Nokia announced both on Tuesday along with the long awaited Symbian^3 update, now called Symbian Anna (aka PR2), and these two will be the first phones to ship with it.

The X7 is a 4 inch AMOLED touchscreen slab with Gorilla Glass, 8MP camera with dual LED flash and 720p video. You get an 8GB microSD card in the box and Galaxy on Fire HD and Asphalt 5 HD preloaded, so its clearly aimed at gamers. The E6 is the classic E series form with a portrait QWERTY and a small 2.46 inch VGA touchscreen, the same 8MP fixed focus camera as the X7, 8GB onboard memory, and Nokia claims upto 28 days standby which is huge !!

Anna brings new icons, a faster browser, a portrait QWERTY on screen keyboard with split screen input and a refreshed Ovi Maps. If you own an N8, E7, C7 or C6-01, the update is coming to you over the coming months. Nokia says the E6 should cost around 340 euros and the X7 380 euros before taxes, both shipping in Q2. Google has released an update today for the their Google Translate app for the Android OS. In a press release they said, We’ve dramatically improved the quality of our spoken translations in over 15 languages, including Russian, Chinese and Portuguese, and added the ability to listen to three new languages: Japanese, Arabic and Korean.

So that makes it 58 languages the app can translate between and 24 languages it can actually speak out loud. Google says the text to speech bit is one of the most popular features of the app and its dead simple to use. Just type in whatever you want, hit translate and tap on the Speaker icon to hear it. So if you were wondering how a particular Arabic phrase is supposed to sound before you try it on someone, this should help.

The update works on phones and tablets running Android 2.1 and above, so most of you should be covered. You can grab it from the Android Market or just scan the QR code on the Google Mobile Blog post.

We’ve heard so much about Blackberry Dakota. Now if you really wanted some official leaks to believe, this video will do for you. This is the advert for the upcoming Blackberry Bold Touch 9900. This was not the only advert to get leaked. The upcoming Blackberry Touch 9860 probably the successor to Torch also got its own advert leaked the same day. Honestly, dont expect much from the videos. Its mostly icons floating around a cityscape and then you get a quick glimpse of the phone at the end. TechCrunch reckons these ads could be for just about any phone out there and we kind of agree!! The Dakota has a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 8GB of built in memory, a 2.8″ VGA capacitive touchscreen on top of the usual Bold keyboard and a 5MP camera with 720p video recording, all in a 10.5mm thin body. The Touch 9860 (also called Monza or Monaco) is a full touchscreen phone with the same 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB memory and a bigger 3.7″ WVGA display. No one could be as perfect as Apple in releasing updates. And this morning we would like to let you know that iOS 4.3.2 is now released for iPad/iPad 2, iPhone 4 (Excluding Verizon/CDMA iPhone 4), and the 3rd/4th gen iPod touch. The change-log is as follows: Fixes an issue that may have caused blank or frozen video during a FaceTime call. Fixes an issue that prevented some international users from connecting to 3G networks on iPad Wi-Fi + 3G. Contains the latest security updates.

The build number is 8H7 for most devices (the CDMA iPad 2 gets 8H8). Verizon iPhone 4 users are not left out though, you get iOS 4.2.7 (build 8E303) instead. Just plug your device into iTunes and hit Check for Update.

As you know, Tablet war has already begun and it looks like India will also be a battle ground. Samsung Galaxy Tab has been here already for a while. Few months back, Apple iPad has also been launched. In addition, we also have many other low budget tablets like the Olive pad etc. Recently, at the launch of the Optimus 2X and Optimus Black in India, LG’s Vishal Chopra confirmed that the Optimus Pad is also coming to India and we can expect it in June.

If you were wondering about the price, LG hasnt said anything yet. Chopra says he will “be in a better position to say” about it “around last week of May”. Reports say it should be around Rs. 30,000 or may be a little below that. LG also admits they need cheaper tablets to really make a difference in a price sensitive market like ours.

The Optimus Pad was unveiled at MWC in February. It has an 8.9 inch display, runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb on a 1GHz dual core Tegra 2 and has dual 5MP cameras which can shoot full HD video in 2D or 720p in 3D. LG has their eyes set on India. They have announced that the new Dual Core LG Optimus 2X and Optimus 3D will be available in India soon for Rs 30,000($679) and Rs 27,000($611) respecitvely. LG Optimus 2X comes with Dual core processor, 8MP Camera(1080P) on the back and 1.3MP camera on the front, 4 inch display, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory expandable upto 32GB, a 1500mAh battery and an HDMI port so you can mirror all that full HD stuff on your TV. The processor is the 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 and LG is calling it the worlds first dual core phone.

The Optimus Black on the other hand is all about the looks. Its just 9.2mm thick and packs the 4 inch NOVA display which LG says uses 50% less power indoors. Both phones ship with Android 2.2 Froyo, but LG says the Gingerbread update is on its way.

Vishal Chopra, Business Head of Mobile Communication at LG India says 2011 will be the year of smartphones in India and the Optimus range will get 10 more devices in the next six months. Both phones should be in the shops by end of April. We’ll try and get our hands on the 2X, so stay tuned.
