Sony just announced the Sony Xperia ZR today which as you might have guessed is a variant of Sony Xperia Z. It is waterproof and dustproof. And looks a lot like Xperia Z itself. So what’s different about this phone ?
Well, it comes with a 4.6″ screen with 720p resolution and 319ppi as opposed to the Full HD display and 5″ screen on Xperia Z. It has the same 2GB RAM seen on the Xperia Z but just 8GB of internal memory instead of the 16GB on Xperia Z. And the MicroSD card on ZR only supports up to 32GB against the 64GB support on the Xperia Z. The processor on Xperia ZR is Quad Core clocked at 1.5Ghz like on the Xperia Z. And its loaded with Android 4.1.
Camera is the same on both the phones which 13.1MP camera that does Full HD videos at 30fps. Similarly, connectivity options are also no different on both phones. You’ll find LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth etc.
Xperia ZR is basically Xperia Z but cheaper, smaller and prettier in my opinion. There hasn’t been no word on the battery, pricing or launch date yet. But it should happen no later than June this year.
Nokia is gearing up to announce the Nokia Lumia 925 tomorrow at a special event in London. Nokia has just teased the device today with a video which presses a lot on its camera capability. It’s probably going to be a phone with capabilities of Pureview 808 or even better. And from what @evleaks have released, we see it sports a metallic design which is great. The Lumia design has already been a tremendous hit and now imagine the same with a metallic built. I could drool on it all day. We’ll know more about it tomorrow. Meanwhile, take a look at this video released by Nokia earlier today.

Apple has just announced the WWDC 2013 event which is scheduled to be held from June 10-14th. The event will include the announcement of the new version of iOS and the Mac OS X along with several developer sessions and other activities. Apple CEO Tim Cook announced recently that Apple is not planning on any product announcements until Autumn this year. Announcing Mac OS 10.9 and iOS 7 to developers on June 10 will clearly be ready to ship to end users by Autumn after all the beta testing. Autumn will also mark the announcement of new iPhone, iPad and definitely new Macs. And who knows, if the rumours are true, Apple will also announce the long awaited Apple TV and iWatch. Time will tell.
If you’re an Apple developer intending to attend WWDC this year, note that tickets will go on sale on April 25th at 10AM PDT and will cost $1599. Also keep in mind that you have to be a registered developer already i.e. when this announcement was made. Any new registrations to the Apple developer program right now will not make you eligible to book a ticket for the event.
