Yesterday we reported that Apple has officially launched the iPad in India, and today we are glad to announce that BSNL has introduced special data plans for the iPad.

Although I expected some private operator to give the head start to iPad plans, BSNL has yet again surprised us with the announcement. Plans are very cheap compared to what you find on the competing operators’ tariff.

If you are wondering about the normal plans that are available then you should know they also work with the iPad if you can cut a micro sim out of the existing sim. If you don’t wanna risk it, you can opt for these plans and get the micro sim that comes with it.

Macworld 2011 is going on and as usual stunning softwares and hardwares are being rolled out. iFusion is the first thing that caught our attention. We’ve seen a lot of accessories that makes iPhone pretty or more usable. But iFusion thought different and made something really cool and stunning. Basically its a land phone for your iPhone. Its from AltiGen Communications and the full name is iFusion SmartStation. Drop your iPhone into the dock and it turns into a desk phone, with a proper wired handset and a full duplex speakerphone for hands free talking. Tether is an application that allows your PC to take advantage of your BlackBerry® smartphone’s data plan, allowing you to access the Internet on your laptop anywhere there is cellular coverage from your BlackBerry. Here’s a video of the app:

Canadian Communication giant has made it clear that they won’t let any type of access for Indian Government to the corporate emails sent from India using a Blackberry device. As we know any information exchanged between Blackberry devices are encrypted using strong keys which makes it hard to anyone from outside to get access to whats inside. Now the Indian Government had given RIM till the end of this month to come up with a way for the security agencies to monitor the encrypted data or face a shutdown of the service.

Earlier this month RIM did hand over a solution to the carriers here for the consumer side, that is BBM and the BIS email most of us use. But when it comes to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server used by companies, RIM says there is nothing to give. Robert Crow, a senior RIM executive told reporters in New Delhi that “there is no solution, there are no keys”. According to him the keys sit with the corporate enterprises themselves and neither RIM nor the operators ever have them, so they simply cant hand them over.

Remember RIM has around 1.1 million customers in India, so a shutdown would be a real mess. Lets see what the government does on the 31st. Stay tuned!!

Samsung has released the Samsung Wave II S8530 in India. We know how well the Samsung Wave has done in the market and now its successor is here and you have reasons to upgrade. The phone comes with a 3.7″ display with 800*480 pixels, 5Mp camera with HD video capability, 1GHZ processor a 1500mAh battery and runs on Bada 1.2 with TouchWiz 3.0 on top. The display is the Super Clear LCD type and Samsung says its brighter with better outdoor visibility and wider viewing angles. You get 2GB of internal memory, a free 2GB memory card in the box and a microSD slot that takes cards upto 32GB. Wifi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, A-GPS and FM radio are all there as usual. Samsung says the battery should last about 15 hours of talk time on 2G and 8 hours on 3G, which isnt bad at all.

Ranjit Yadav, Country Head of Samsung Mobile & IT, called bada “a fully integrated platform that supports cutting-edge applications and services”. Samsung Apps store access and the Social Hub that ties SNS, IM and email together are there too.

Not all can afford $600 smartphone and stay connected to internet 24/7. But at Nimbuzz they want their users to be connected to internet despite any difficulties and that’s why they have introduced ping. See the video demo below.

Basically, once you turn on Ping you appear online to your Nimbuzz friends even when the app is closed. When one of them tries to reach you, Nimbuzz sends a free SMS to your phone saying someone is looking for you. Then its upto you whether to log in and start a data session and chat. So no need to keep the app running all day eating up your battery and data.

Ping is free to enable. Just go to settings in Nimbuzz, verify your phone number and you are done. It works on all Java and Nokia Symbian phones. Nimbuzz says its optimized for low bandwidth networks as well, which is the case with most of us here anyway.

Now the bad news. For now Ping is only live on Telkomsel in Indonesia, which they say covers more than 88 million subscribers. Nimbuzz says a dozen operators across the Middle East and Asia Pacific will follow over the next few months and two carriers in India are in the plans too. We dont know which ones yet.
