iOS 5.1 To Bring Huge Improvements To Siri, iOS 5.0.2 Expected Next Week

iOS 5.0.1 was released last week to address the battery issues in iOS 5. Many iOS 5 users were experiencing disastrous battery life and it took Apple no time to release a fix. In all that joy of new update fixing the issues for some, it opened up battery issues for many, most of who were not previously affected. This led to endless thread on Apple’s support forums(best place to get Apple’s attention). Now the reports are that Apple is working on the iOS 5.0.2 update which is expected to be rolled out next week. Apple now uses delta updates to deliver new changes and fixes to the OS. These Over-The-Air updates does not require you to rely on iTunes and comes in small packages which are very convenient.

While you wait for the battery fix, Apple is also working on Siri enhancements. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could just say Take a photo, Turn on WiFi or Make a Video to Siri? Well, that’s just what Apple is working on right now. At this moment there is no word on when we can expect this update to hit our devices. We are expecting it by the year end. Are you really excited for this update ?

Nokia Windows Phones Announced In India

In a special launch event held at New Delhi, Nokia and Microsoft India together announced the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. These are the first two Windows phones from Nokia which were announced at the Nokia World 2011 on October 26th. This is one of the quickest roll out of products after announcement in a long time. Eventhough Nokia hasn’t announced any price yet, it’s rumoured to cost Rs 29000/- for the Nokia Lumia 800 and Rs 19000/- for the Lumia 710 model. These prices are similar to the international prices.

Nokia is also planning a makeover to the retail stores and you will find a Windows Phone expert in every 5000 stores across the country that will be selling the Lumias. It’s a good move from the Nokia as people aren’t quite aware of the Windows Phone platform in India. The devices will be available for purchase this December 14th onwards in India. If you aren’t patient enough you can also try in these countries (UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Netherlands.) which are expected to receive the Lumias first in the world.

Nokia Windows Phones will come with exclusive features like the Nokia Drive and Nokia Music and will surely work here in India. Not to mention, you will also have a gorgeous looking phone with great build quality which is unique to Nokia. Pre-orders will start in early December. So, the question is, Are you excited and will you buy one ??

Nokia Releases An iPhone Like Lumia Design Video

Every great product is the result of hard work of hundreds of people. Making a product from scratch and then releasing the final finished product goes through different phases. Consumers usually don’t know what happens on the other side of the brands. And its great and very inspiring when you get a glimpse at it. We’ve seen the iPhone design videos and the passion these designers have for their product. In this video, Nokia may not have really succeeded in showing that passion, but we really know how passionate Nokia is about mobile phones. Well, I shall stop here and let the video do the talking.

Apple Starts Selling Unlocked iPhone 4S In US

Apple finally started taking the orders for unlocked iPhone 4S in the US. Apple has been selling iPhones on contract so far and now you can buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple by ordering here. iPhone 4S 16GB costs $649, the 32GB version costs $749 and 64GB costs $849.

Verizon and Sprint users should keep away from these unlocked units as these phones are not compatible with the Verizon and Sprint CDMA networks. At the moment, users can only order and get the phone delivered at their place instead of choosing to pick from the Apple store. And for those wondering, yes these phones will work anywhere in the world with any GSM networks.

iPhone 4S Launching In India This November 25th ??

Apple has been launching iPhone in many countries lately. With the initial launch on October 14th in 6 countries, Apple launched iPhone 4S in 22 other countries on October 28th and is now gearing to launch the same in 15 more countries this November 11th. Apple also announced that it’s targeting to launch the iPhone in 70 countries by year end which means Apple is preparing to launch in 55 other countries besides the ones so far.

Before you read further, we shall make it clear that this news is not based on information from “sources close to the subject” or “people familiar with the matter”. This comes from someone who has been watching the Apple very closely. An Apple enthusiast.

As I said earlier, Apple launched the iPhone 4S on October 14th in US, UK, Canada, Germany, France and Japan. And on October 28th, Apple launched the iPhone 4S to 22 other countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.) Now that’s a clear 14 days gap from the initial launch. Apple later announced the next batch of countries to get the iPhone 4S on November 11th. They are Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania and South Korea. You might have already done the math and its another 14 days from the previous launch(Oct 28th). I also went through the list of launch countries for Apple’s iPhone 4 and it seems that all countries who got the iPhone 4 before India has already received an iPhone launch date except the middle east countries. If Apple goes by this trend, mark your calendar for November 25th which is another 14 days from the previous launch. We will see iPhone 4S launching in India.

Many users who’ve bought an iPhone 4S from other countries are not able to use the phone here despite being an unlocked unit. Even though carriers were unable to address the issue initially, operators like Airtel has said that an update to their system on November 25th will fix this issue and all iPhones will start working in the subcontinent. Lets not forget the fact that Airtel is one of the official carriers of the iPhone in the country.

Finally, as I said, this is not from any secret source that cant be revealed but from a Apple enthusiast just like you. We could be wrong too. But hey don’t we love rumours ?? :) So what do you think ? Will we see iPhone 4S in India on November 25th ??
