And Apple has finally announced the iPad. As expected it comes with retina display that brings a resolution of 2048X1536 with 3.1 million pixels. That is 1 million pixels more than the HDTVs’ with 1080p support. The new iPad also has A5X quad core processor which is twice as fast compared to Tegra 3. A new feature in the iPad is the all new 5MP camera with illuminated sensor on the back. It also features advanced optics with IR filer, Autofocus and white balance. And as you might expect, face detection too. In other words, its just as good as the iPhone 4S but 5MP. This new camera can now take 1080p videos and it has video stabilization, noise reduction etc. The voice dictation feature will now be available on the iPad like on the iPhone. So all those who were uncomfortable with soft keyboard can now use the dictation feature. Another new feature is the 4G LTE which means it supports HSPA+ (21Mbps), DC-HSDPA (42Mbps) and LTE (73Mbps max). This is will make browsing and emails incredibly faster. Obviously, you will need an expensive data plan to enjoy this service.

There is no sacrifice on battery life with the new 4G implementation or due to the high resolution display. The new iPad will still give you 10 hours battery life and 9 hours on 4G. Apple has also added updated suite of its iWork applications and iLife applications. iPhoto is finally available for the iOS devices. It brings a lot of editing features to the iPad and has a new feature called Beam. Beam is essentially a new feature that lets you send photos between iOS devices running iPhoto. As for the pricing its $499, $599 and $699 for the WiFi iPad with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively. Similarly WiFi + 4G iPad will cost $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 32GB and $829 for the 64GB version. It will start shipping this March 16th to US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Apple is also selling iPad 2 WiFi 16GB and WiFi + 3G versions for a reduced price of $399 and $529 respectively.
