Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 2 Today
Apple has just released the iOS 5 Bets 2 which all of us have been waiting very curiously. It’s been 18 days since the official launch of iOS 5 Beta 1. iOS 5 Beta 2 will include a lot of bugs an performance improvements. But we are also hoping to see WiFi sync enabled in this build. And yes, its there !! The build number is 9A5248d and it comes along with iTunes 10.5 beta 2.
To get the wireless sync going you plug the phone in once with the cable, go to the Summary tab in iTunes and tick Sync Over Wi-Fi Connection. After that you head to Settings > General > iTunes Sync on the phone and tap Sync Now, with the device plugged into a power source. Apple says it also syncs on its own when the device is on power and on the same network as the paired computer. You need Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Lion for this iTunes beta though.
From the release notes, iMessage on beta 2 wont talk to devices still running beta 1, and the new iTunes cant sync a phone thats on beta 1 either. Separately, it also looks like an Apple ID is now needed to get to the home screen after setup, which beta 1 let you skip. Registered developers can grab it from Apple’s developer site. We’re installing it here, so stay tuned.
