Nokia sues Apple

Nokia announced that it has today filed a complaint against Apple with the Federal District Court in Delaware, alleging that Apple’s iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.
As a leading innovator in wireless communications, Nokia has created one of the strongest and broadest patent portfolios in the industry, investing more than EUR 40 billion in R&D; during the last two decades. Much of this intellectual property, including the patents in suit, has been declared essential to industry standards.  Nokia has already successfully entered into license agreements including these patents with approximately 40 companies, including virtually all the leading mobile device vendors, allowing the industry to benefit from Nokia’s innovation.

The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and wireless LAN standards. The patents cover wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models shipped since the iPhone was introduced in 2007.

Twitter On Airtel: More ways to Express Yourselves

Twitter is no new word for us. Still for those who don’t know it yet, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access.

Most of us have enjoyed twitter on Desktops, Macs and mobile phones(GPRS). But now airtel has introduced even a simpler way. Now to use twitter on phone you don’t need a gprs connection anymore. You can use sms service for twitter.

Apple Iphone firmware update

Apple has silently released a firmware update for the iPhone, 3G and 3GS. The updated firmware, version 3.1.2, is available now on iTunes 9.0 for download and includes bug fixes, rather than the usual security updates and feature additions. The small change log for updated firmware includes the following fixes:

* Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
* Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
* Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

The update will fix some issues with cellular network problems that consumers have reported in the past, but some further issues with AT&T’s network may still persist. An updated firmware for the iPod touch is also available from iTunes.

Nokia E97

Photos of nokia E97 Concept phone surfaces along with some specs.
The concept phone’s screen is based on E-ink technology and it’ll be very easy to share with your friends. If you want to show everyone a cool video or a photo, you can simply detach the display and show the content, without having to worry about storage space, because the screen uses a 4 or 8GB memory stick to store data just like an USB Flash drive.

Nokia E97’s screen can also be used like a photo frame on your desk, once it’s connected to the small USB base. Well it will be good if we dont wonder when this device will be out as it seems like it will take some really long time before we can see it in our hands. But its good to know that some real mind blogging technologies are coming to us.

Nokia Messaging will soon cost you some bucks..

Absence of html support for nokia’s native email client has been a great disappointment for many customers. For this reason, many had to switch to paid apps like profimail to see html emails in their phone. But a few months back nokia released its beta software that lets u check email instantly and display them with html support. But now nokia has ceased this free service in many countries and is now charging customers to use it. Very soon, ie by september end, nokia India customers will also have to pay.

The question is will it bring down the total amount of users??

And by the way, tell us if you are/was using this service ?

And how much nokia charges in your country ?
