Galaxy Note III Details Leak: The Word “Phablet” Added To Oxford Dictionary

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3-press-image

One of the best products from Samsung is the Galaxy Note. Its a category that Samsung dared to start when it didn’t exist back in the days. And we’ve all seen how successful it has become over the time. Both men and women equivalently love the Note. There’s been Note I and Note II till date. And within few weeks, we’ll witness the release of Note III. We all are very interested to see what this device is going to bring. And this time its very important as competitors like Sony has already entered the phablet category. FYI, the word phablet has been entered to the oxford dictionary recently.

According to SamMobile, there will two variants of the device this time. Code named SM-N900 and SM-N9005. This definitely indicates a LTE Variant and a WiFi only variant. The display has got bigger with a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution. As for the processor, the device will sport a 1.8Ghz Octa core Exynos 5420 processor. The WiFi variant may have a slightly slower processor, RAM will be 3GB, a 13MP camera with optical image stabilization on the rear and a small resolution camera on the front is expected. Both the device will run Android 4.3 and will sport a 3200mAh battery. Three storage options are available starting with 16GB. 32GB and 64GB units are also expected. However, availability at launch is not known. All devices will also have MicroSD card support up to 64GB.

The device will be announced during Samsung Unpacked event to be held at Berlin, Germany on September 4th 2013.

iPhone 5S: Here’s Everything You Should Expect

Fall is approaching and we’re all excited. As tech geeks, it’s not the beautiful climate or the changing colours of leaves that’s going to get us excited, but the line of new devices Apple will be announcing through this period and the competitors’ products to stay in the game. Undoubtedly, its the iPhone first in line to be announced and the current reports thoroughly points to September 10th announcement. iPhone announcements are always one of the best from Apple as they bring ground breaking features to the phone. And this time, the announcement will be nothing short of it as we’re about to witness a lot of new features to the iPhone both in hardware as well as software. So let’s get started. Everybody say “i”.

Design has almost been the same since iPhone 4 introduction in 2010. iPhone 5 did receive a light improvement in screen size and overall design with the inclusion of Aluminium rear case which is non removable as usual. And this time, the screen size will continue to be 4 inches probably with an increase in the resolution.

As per several reports on the web and this last picture posted by iMore, a very interesting feature is headed to Apple iPhone this year. The home button will now be a Sapphire crystal which will double its function as Home button and also act as a biometric fingerprint sensor for authentication like screen unlock, app purchase/downloads, website and app logins etc. Its really going to save a lot of time for users and at the same time, the level of security gets doubled or even tripled. And this can also possibly reduce the iPhone thefts everywhere. Not to forget, Apple added “Activation Lock” feature to iPhones which will require the use of same Apple id and password even after a reset. Apart from home button, the overall design would head in the direction of iPad Mini which is really gorgeous and appealing. I still expect to see iPhone in black and white only. However, several reports of multicoloured iPhones are circulating around the web and this is not the first time that we’re seeing such reports. A gold iPhone is also rumoured to launch. Although, I wouldn’t count on it.

Another big change in the design would be the inclusion of a dual LED flash to the camera. The camera is also expected to get better but we don’t have any strong reports that says anything about the included megapixels. It will probably remain the same at 8MP. Apple has always said that its not the number of megapixels that makes a photo sharp and clear. So unless they want to prove themselves wrong, we shouldn’t see a 12MP camera or higher at the back. All the ports, connectors and the nano sim card will continue to be the same. We’re not expecting any big changes in that area. On the inside, we should see the new A7 processor with improved graphics capabilities. The RAM will mostly continue to be the same as 1GB as seen on the iPhone 5. However, the power of new A7 chip will be mind blowing.

Another huge update will be to the battery. Its been the same since iPhone 4, 4S and 5. Its high time Apple give the battery a boost. Mostly because its too small in specification and the number of apps that run on background, use GPS and other location services are on the rise. And if that’s not enough, the competitor phones are all on 2000+mAh battery and they’re starting to last all day or even longer. So open your eyes Apple. Its time for a boost. We should see a 2000mAh battery this time. And that should be a good boost from the existing 1420mAh battery. Anything less than 2000mAh will be a disappointment.

So let’s look at this again. The new iPhone 5S will feature the following:

  • A 4 inch screen with higher resolution.
  • A finger print sensor.
  • A7 processor with 1GB RAM.
  • 8MP Camera with dual LED flash.
  • ~2000mAh Battery.
  • Black & White.
  • iOS 7

If you haven’t read our first impressions on iOS 7, click here. iPhone 5S will continue to be priced at £529, £599, and £699. Apple has the history of deducting prices when there are huge fluctuations in exchange rates. Taking that into account, all the models should see a ~£30 price cut. Oh and this time, “S” in iPhone 5S should mean “Security”. Let’s wait for September 10th to see what Apple brings to the table. If you think we would see something more that what’s mentioned above, do let us know in the comments section.

Mark Your Calendar: Next iPhone To Launch On September 10th

AllThingsD, who has a very credible background reporting Apple event schedule has reported that the next iPhone will be announced on September 10th. This report comes against the current speculation which was pointing to a September 6th launch. Apple’s iOS 7 which is in beta hit its fifth beta release last week. In two weeks time we can expect the Gold Master version and then the final version which would be around early September.

Next iPhone will hit the market with iOS 7 pre-installed and the existing models will also receive this update. iOS 7 also contained files related to finger print sensor which is an indication of the feature being implemented in the upcoming iPhone. iPhone will initially launch in US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. The price for unlocked iPhones will continue to be the same as  £529,  £599 and  £599 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively.

Apple is also expected to release a cheaper version of iPhone called iPhone 5C. Reports regarding the same have been circulating on the internet for weeks. We do not believe in this rumour as Apple has a tradition of making existing versions of iPhone cheaper to make them affordable to people. But with companies like Samsung making a fortune with multiple and cheaper models, Apple may look into it. But its not an Apple trend to do what competitors to do. Time will tell.
