Nokia has finally brought the 41MP camera sensor to power their Windows Phone after implementing it on their Symbian(RIP) flagship Nokia Pureview 808. The latest Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with a 41MP camera sensor with optical image stabiliser that captures images like no other. If that didn’t make you happy, you must also know that it has a Xenon flash, six Zeiss lenses and a dual capture trick where it saves a 38MP shot and a 5MP oversampled one at the same time. On the 808 Pureview you had to pick one or the other. You also get lossless zoom in videos, 4x in 1080p and 6x in 720p.

Rest of the specs are a 1.5Ghz dual core Snapdragon S4, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 4.5″ AMOLED display at 1280×768 and a 2000mAh battery, running Windows Phone 8. Nokia has also thrown in a Pro Camera app with manual controls for ISO, shutter speed, white balance and focus. For the serious folks there is a Camera Grip accessory for $79 with a 1020mAh battery and a tripod mount.

Stephen Elop announced it at the “Zoom Reinvented” event in New York on Thursday. Its coming to AT&T in the US on July 26th for $299.99 on a two year contract, pre orders start July 16th, and Nokia says China and some European countries get it this quarter. No word on India or UAE yet, we’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned !!
