So most of you out there many languages. But how many of you know many accents. If you think you are a master of accents then hit play on the videos below. We’re on the hunt for an accent aficionado. Using Nokia’s Own Voice app, we want you to submit your best accents in a bid to become Nokia’s Foreign Accent Cup Champion. Thats the line straight from Nokia Conversations, who kicked this off yesterday, just ahead of a certain football tournament. Reckon you can do a good French, Italian, British or Australian accent??

If you dont know, Own Voice is the free app on the Ovi Store that lets you record your own turn by turn instructions for Ovi Maps. You record 53 commands, name the pack and upload it. It needs Ovi Maps 3.03 and its English only.

For the contest Nokia wants a voice pack in any accent you like, and accent enthusiast Amy Walker will be doing a video every day with hints and tips, her intro is the first one below. When you upload, put ‘Accentcup’ in the description, then leave a comment on the Conversations post with your twitter username or email foreignaccentcup@ovi.com with the voicepack name in the subject. This Friday they pick the top ten and the champion, and the prize is oodles of Nokia goodies. Someone has already uploaded a Scottish Indian one, so get cracking !!

Apple has proved how cool they are with the iPhone 4. But if that isn’t enough for you, take a look at this giant 30 24″ LCD TV synchronized to show the top 50,000 apps on the app store. They just fall from the top and stacks at the base. It takes 10,800 apps to fill up the whole wall and once its full, it resets and starts all over again.

If you were wondering how this works, every time somebody downloads an app its icon drops from the top and lands on a stack of the same colour. So you get these colour coded piles building up all across the wall and honestly its pretty cool to just stand there and watch. We dont know much about whats running behind it, but keeping 30 screens in sync like that cant be an easy job!!

Last year at WWDC they had a similar wall with 20 of the 30″ Cinema Displays showing 20,000 icons that pulsed whenever somebody bought an app. Back then the app store had around 50,000 apps and now its over 225,000, so the falling icons make a lot more sense than the pulsing ones!!

Skype has released an iPhone client long back. But the client then did not support 3G voice calling. Users with high data plans were angry as they couldn’t use their 3G connection for making calls on the go and hence had to stick on to wifi connection. Yesterday skype released a new version that finally opens up 3G. Skype 2.0 is a free update on the App Store and it runs on the iPhone, iPhone 3G, 3GS, the iPod touch and the iPad, if you are on iPhone OS 3.0 or above. Till now the app simply told you “You need WiFi to call over Skype”, and skype blamed contractual restrictions for it.

Now the catch. Skype says Skype to Skype calls on 3G are free until atleast the end of August 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee. Your operators data charges apply anyway, so do keep an eye on that bill.

2.0 isnt only about 3G. On the iPhone 3GS and the 2nd generation iPod touch you get wideband audio using the SILK codec, which skype calls near CD quality sound. There is also a better call quality indicator, faster start up and quick access to the dial pad from the home screen. We are trying it out over 3G here, so stay tuned !!

Nokia Messaging for IM offers a desktop-like IM experience on your Nokia device. You can stay in contact with your friends across multiple communities at the same time, easily switch between them and customize your status by community. This client is designed for the Nokia Touch Devices. Key features * Chat with your friends on the Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi communities, preview new messages in the Chat homescreen widget, set your own avatar and log in as invisible so you see everyone but they see you as offline. It also notifies you of new messages even when Chat is in the background.

Nokia put this up on Beta Labs this week, a full redesign for the N97 and N97 mini. If youre on a 5800, X6, 5530 or 5230, Beta Labs says testing isnt finished on those yet, so expect it to be more unstable. The client is written in Web Runtime and Nokia is upfront about it: “we’re really proud of the look and feel, but we know we need to do more for the client performance”. Upcoming firmware updates will increase client speed, they say.
