The new Nokia X2 in candybar formfactor offers a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and measures in at just 13mm thin and 81g light.The Nokia X2 also packs dual speakers, dedicated music keys, FM stereo and support for up to 16GB of storage via microSD card make for a nifty mobile music device.

Bluetooth 2.1 is supported for wireless music enjoyment whilst hardcore music fans can opt for the 3.5mm headphone jack. Full speed USB 2.0 makes music transfer quick and easy and music can be managed via the Ovi Player PC client or Windows Media Player 11.

It’s not just a musical maestro, the X2 also offers direct access to Facebook from the homescreen and comes with Nokia Messaging goodness for email and Instant Messaging. Other notable feature include instant access to apps from Ovi Store, a five-megapixel camera and a video recorder.

The Nokia X2 will be available for an estimated retail price of €85 before taxes and subsidies. Indian price is around Rs 5000/-

Last fall, Google launched Place Pages which organize relevant and useful information about places on Google Maps. Since then Google have been developing a version, available now, which gives you access to the same useful information optimized for your mobile phone. For example, in the video below, the Place Page for Mama’s restaurant in San Francisco shows location information, customer ratings, opening hours and what people are saying about the restaurant in summary format.

To get more details on opening hours or on customer specific comments related to the food, service or ambiance, simply click on those respective sections to show more information instantly. The Place Page also provides links to useful websites where the user can read full reviews about the place. Lastly, if address and cross street information is not enough, click on the map button and you will be taken to a full screen dynamic map which is pannable and zoomable. In this way you can quickly see the restaurant’s location in the context of the entire neighborhood.

To try this yourself, go to google.com on your phone’s browser and search for “mama’s sf”. On the search results page, click on the listing for Mama’s restaurant to go to the Place Page. This mobile optimized Place Page is currently supported on Android-powered devices and iPhones/iPod touches in the US.

Opera has been in the walk of fame for a while now since the new latest opera versions for symbian. Recently, their iPhone App also got approved and Opera has been rocking iTunes App Charts. Opera, now again has shown it’s love for Apple with the release of Opera browser 10.52 which is claimed to be seven times faster than it’s predecessors. Opera also includes features like Opera Unite, Opera Turbo and many others. It has also got many UI retouches. See the video below to see it in Action.

Syncing iPod Touch/iPhone is a lways a hefty task. Everytime you want to add a song or app from your iTunes library, you have to connect the cable and sync. Well Greg Hughes who is a 2nd-year computer science student at the University of Birmingham in Great Britain has found a solution. He has built an app called Wi-Fi Sync that does it all over your wireless network. We watched his demo video and honestly it looks just like a normal sync. You put a small helper app on your computer, open Wi-Fi Sync on the phone, and the first time both sides ask you to pair them. Thats a one time job. After that iTunes launches on its own and the device shows the usual Sync in Progress screen with slide to cancel. He demoed the Mac version and says a Windows one is being worked on.

Now this isnt on the App Store yet. Hughes says it fully complies with Apples developer rules and he plans to submit it at the end of this week. Whether Apple agrees is anybodys guess at this point. And remember 802.11g wifi is a lot slower than the USB 2.0 cable, so a big sync will take its time. Small syncs, more often, thats the idea. Stay tuned.

The Nokia N8, Nokia’s latest smartphone, intuitively connects to the people, places and services that matter most. With the Nokia N8, people can create compelling content, connect to their favorite social networks and enjoy on-demand Web TV programs and Ovi Store apps. Available in select markets during the third quarter of 2010, the estimated retail price of the Nokia N8 is EUR 370, before applicable taxes or subsidies. The N8 packs a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a Xenon flash and a sensor Nokia says rivals the ones in compact digital cameras. It shoots HD video too, and theres an editing suite right on the phone. Plug it into your TV over HDMI and you get HD playback with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.

Inside its Symbian^3, the first device to run it, so you finally get multi touch, pinch zoom and flick scrolling on those customisable homescreens. Facebook and Twitter feeds sit right there on the homescreen, with status updates, photo uploads and calendar events syncing in. Free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation covers more than 70 countries. 16GB on board, microSD for more, a 3.5 inch touchscreen and that single piece anodised aluminium body in five colours.

Nokia’s latest C-series phone Nokia C3 is a QWERTY phone featuring a 2.0 Megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, Memory card support upto 16gigs and more. The phone lacks support which is natural for a phone at this price point but features WiFi which is really a surprise. This is also first phone in this Series 40 line to get a full QWERTY keyboard, going by Nokia’s own announcement of it along with the C6 and E5 on the 13th.

India price is Rs 5,317, Nokia had quoted EUR 90 before taxes at the announcement, and it should be in stores as early as May. Correction to the line above: Nokia’s 13th April announcement says microSD upto 8GB, not 16. Sorry about that. WiFi at this money is unheard of here, till now you had to spend above Rs 10,000 for it, so thats the real news !! No 3G means you are on EDGE, but theres Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat which you can set up on the phone itself without a PC.

Screen is 2.4 inch QVGA, the homescreen pulls your Facebook and Twitter updates, and you get Opera Mini along with the Webkit browser. Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki says people want the best messaging and social networking experience on an affordable device, and with Micromax and Spice already selling QWERTY at this price he isnt wrong.
