Instagram Gets A Massive Update

A few hours back Instagram has received one of the biggest updates graduating the client to version 2.0. The new update brings a big new camera interface with Live effects. So from now on, you don’t have to snap and then try various effects. Instead you can browse through the effects with scene in focus right before the shot. The app is claimed to be 200x faster which is unbelievable. On our initial tests, the app performed way faster than before. There are no lags while applying different effects and applying Tilt Shift effect is now 100x faster too.

In addition to huge performance improvements they have also introduced four new filters, and high resolution photos. Previously Instagram photos only meant 612X612. Well now its 1936X1936 on iPhone 4 and 1536X1536 on iPhone 3GS which is great.

Borders are now optional. So you are not forced to have a border for all the pictures you take. And there’s one click rotation too which is nice. The app icon has also seen a facelift with a brighter and better design.

Instagram v2.0 is supported on iOS 4.2.1 and above.

Nokia N9 Launching In UAE In Just 48 Hours

Two hours back @nokiauae just tweeted that they will releasing the Nokia N9 in UAE in less than two hours. Thats right, this tuesday you can grab one of the Nokia N9 if you’re lucky. A few minutes later they also posted an ad claimed to be the Nokia UAE ad. Price was not mentioned. But surely there’s a launch event and we are awaiting further details. So are you gonna grab one ??

iPhone 5 To Be Nothing Like You’ve Seen Before: iPhone 4S, Just A Fast iPhone 4

A lot has happened in the last couple of days in the iPhone rumor mill. Today morning we reported about the iPhone case leak from Case Mate. 9To5Mac is reporting that there will be two new iPhones this year rather than the usual low end model from the previous generation. iPhone 4S(or whatever Apple calls it) will be a speed bumped iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5 will be whole new design.

The iPhone 5 itself is a sight to behold, we’ve been told. It is impossibly light, yet much firmer than Samsung Galaxy phones which are backed in plastic. The camera rivals point and shoot cameras and will be a major marketing point for this device.

Earlier reports also indicate that iPhone 4 is seeing massive production with almost 10 million units targeted for the launch day. So if thats true, iPhone 5 will see a delay in its debut to the market. Apple has never readied so much low end models for the launch day. And if we go by 9To5Mac’s report, then we won’t seen an iPhone 5 until 2012. Bummer !!!

[Humor] Apple Wants Its Lost iPhone 5

History repeats itself. As we all know Apple seems to have lost the iPhone 5 prototype in a bar again, Even though Apple traced the phone to an apartment in San Francisco, they couldn’t get the phone from there. Apple is really serious about its products and prototypes. We all know what Gizmodo went through last year.

Conan and his team has posted a video in their YouTube channel about the incident and has given us a glimpse of what happens if you mess with the Big A.

Samsung Introduces The Samsung Galaxy Note: A New Kind Of Phone

Samsung has introduced a new category of mobile phone or lets rather say a new category of device that swings between a cell phone and a tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Note features a 5.3″ HD Super AMOLED screen with 1280×800 resolution and 285ppi. This is one of the gorgeous displays you will ever find. The spacious screen will be your virtual pad and you can scribble just about anything on it using the S-pen. You can quickly jot down a meeting, address or sketch a new design quickly without having to reach for your tablet or any other device.

The Galaxy Note comes with a powerful 1.4Ghz processor, Gingerbread onboard, 8MP camera with LED flash that does 1080p recording, a secondary 2MP camera for video calls and self portraits, 4G/3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, 16gb internal memory, a giant battery with 2500mAh and of course you will see TouchWhiz UI thats on top of all of these.

The device seems to be like a Galaxy S2 on steroids. For those who want bigger, sharper and brighter screen and enhanced battery life than the existing Galaxy S2, this is a good choice. Not to mention the Stylus who has been missing it for years. Samsung seems to believe that bigger is better. We are not against this “Mantra”, but we would appreciate a bit more build quality. The cheap plastic feel of Galaxy S2 is unacceptable for a premium device. However, thats not going to be a deal breaker at all. Galaxy S2 has done very well in the market. We are expecting a good result from the Galaxy Note as well.
