Access facebook: Quick N Easy !!!

Facebook is one of our favourite sites. Setting statuses, sharing pictures and commenting have become a part of our daily life. The only little problem is on accessing facebook site. Since the page has a lot of items, it would take sometime on a slow connection to load up. Moreover, what if you just signed in to check something serious. Say you wanted to get the number of your friend so you wouldnt want to see all those apps and notifications etc but just get the number at the earliest. We have found out some easy ways to access facebook without having to load everything.

1. The facebook iphone site: iphone.facebook.com

The page can be loaded from PCs, Macs and mobiles(touchscreens, we havent tried on non touchscreen phones).

The page has good UI. I have never seen such graphics on such a small site before. This best to do simple tasks quickly and easily.

2. The facebook mobile site: m.facebook.com

3. There is a lite version facebook under development. It is said that, it is being developed to compete with the twitter page. Unfortunately, we couldnt test the page as its not available here. The url is lite.facebook.com

Whatā€™s wrong with Nokia ???

One of the best competion is going on in the mobile world now. Apple iphone 3gs just launched with smashing record sales, highly anticipated nokia N97 is also out and failed to make the wow. HTC is rolling out cool new phones and samsung is pushing limitless number of touchscreens at extremely cheap prices. At this stage, nokia seems to continuously lose the market share even after rolling out the best phones like n97, 5800xm, 5530xm etc. Nokia also made many services free like the files on ovi to catch up the market. But that doesnt seem to work either.

Hereā€™s what many of our readers think. Nokia phones come equipped with good hardware. Its strong, sturdy and advanced by specifications. However, the nokia operating system is light years behind the others. The current phones from apple, htc and samsung all have a very eye catching UI. The symbian has been the same since its introduction. All the symbian 5th edition rolled out, we could see no signinficant change in UI other than added touch support. We know how good the Win Mo phones, android phones and iphone os looks like. In addition, these osā€™ works very smooth. We can get things done quickly. In symbian, its a little pain. You will have to face some freezing and cold bloodedness. So dear nokia, you know you are the best in what you do. But to keep up with the changing world, please ditch or develop symbian to a new level.

1.Gmail: Email is an inevitable part of life. So is Gmail. Here is a gmail java client to check, send and receive emails. However, emails with attachment can only be received, no sending attachments is supported for now. A great alternative to native mail client in the phone.

5. Sms preview: Since smsā€™ are cheap and some free, you may receive a lot of forwarded messages. Sometimes you receive them just when you are busy. You seriously open the smsā€™ just to realize that it was a poor joke you saw on tv last night. Well not anymore, with sms preview in your phone, a notification window gives you a inside scoop of the sms that arrived. It disappears after a preset time. So now on donā€™t open the wrong sms in the wrong time but install the right software in the right time.

Nokia 5530 is now available

The stripped down version of nokia 5800 xm, nokia 5530 is now available for purchase from stores. The phone is now available Europe and will be soon available in other places. The phone is loaded with all the features that nokia 5800 xm is loaded with except for the 3G and GPS. The screen has also been stripped down to 2.9 inches from 3.2 inches as seen 5800. On the bright side, the cost will be low and affordable to many.
UPDATE:Ā  The phone is now available in India for Rs 13999/-

However, the phone comes with some software enhancements that 5800 users have been dying to see in their phone. Of these is the kinetic scrolling feature which you might have seen in the video. In addition to that the 20 contacts carousel and shortcuts together on the homescreen is another dream come true for nokia 5800 users.

Nokia & Microsoft agrees for a dedicated office client

Nokia and microsoft have joined to work together for creating a mobile version of microsoft office for its phones.
Nokia currently ships quickoffice bundled with its eseries devices. However, from now on it will be a microsoft client inside rather than a quick office client. But whats the big deal to us the customers. Well, we dont have to buy a quick office and moreover since its from microsoft itself, we dont have to worry about any incompatabilities we had with our documents. Lets also hope that a version for non eseries will also be out.

Softwares and Gadgets queue up at online stores

microsoft-zune-hdWell, in the coming months we may see a lot of softwares and gadgets in the stores. of these will be the highly anticipated Mac OS X Snow Leopard and the enought talked Microsoft Zune HD. Microsoft Zune HD,microsoftā€™s answer to appleā€™s ipod touch comes loaded with features like HD radio, multitouch screen, games and more. The device appeared in Amazon Storeā€™s page and is now taking pre-orders at a nominal rate of $25. The package photo also hinted about its launch date to be september 25th.

Apple releases mac os X 10.5.8 update

osx-1058 The update was released yesterday and is supposed to be the last update before snow leopardā€™s release. Snow leopard is due for september and is available for $29 for leopard users who opt for upgrade and $129 for complete install disks. The new update is available via software update and is around 168mb.

Google releases chrome beta 3

google today released their latest update to theor simple and fast browser chrome. The new browser comes with added support for themes. The theme idea sounds good. But would that mean chrome is still a simple browser?? Anyway chrome is available for download at google.com/landing/chrome/beta
