Now “Express Yourselves” More With International Video Calling On Airtel

Comments Off on Now “Express Yourselves” More With International Video Calling On Airtel

Airtel today introduced international video calling which is a first in the country. So now if you and your loved ones are on 3G in any of the supported countries, then you can make an international video call and talk to them and also see them which is quite nice. Video calls are as low as Rs 14 per minute to the US, Canada and Bangladesh, and Rs 20 per minute if you are calling UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia or Oman. Airtel says the service covers 227 countries in total, so most of you with family abroad should be covered.

Now the catch. Both you and the person you are calling need to be on 3G and both phones need a front facing camera, otherwise it just wont work. Also the rates above are only on your side, the person receiving the call will have to check with their local operator on what they get charged. Atul Bindal, President of Mobile Services at Airtel says “this marks the beginning of a new era of next generation communication in the country”.

If you are on Airtel 3G and want to know more, just call 12134. Rs 14 a minute is still quite a bit compared to the free video chat options out there but hey, its on the move and thats something. Let us know in the comments if you tried it!!
