It looks like Nokia has finally realized that its time they abandon their old UI OS for a new one. Well almost. Symbian Anna was released recently which is a decent update bringing enhanced browser, a portrait keyboard, new theme and some performance enhancements. But now Nokia is all set to announce Symbian Belle this Wednesday, August 24th. Nokia has put up a countdown timer on its Facebook page which says “It’s almost time to try something new” and hits zero on Wednesday. Nokia didnt say what the something new is, but the guys at MyNokiaBlog and Pocket-Lint dug into the flash file and found it sitting in a folder called belle with the name belle_fb_TeaserMain. Nokia quietly renamed it to just “teaser” after that, but it was too late by then!! So yeah, its Belle.
If you were wondering whats in Belle, we’ve already seen leaked videos of it running on the N8. There is an Android style pull down notification bar with toggle switches in it, a new keyboard, a new camera UI and a task switcher for multitasking. Rumours also say Nokia might show off three new phones along with it, the Nokia 600, 700 and 701. We will know for sure on Wednesday. Stay tuned.
