HP’s TouchPad Now Selling For $99: Yes, You Heard That Right !!

Comments Off on HP’s TouchPad Now Selling For $99: Yes, You Heard That Right !!

It was really sad to see HP discontinuing their WebOS TouchPad and Smartphones. But here’s something to cheer you up. HP has asked all retailers to sell their tablets for just $99 for the 16GB model, $149 for the 32GB model starting August 20th. So if you are one of those guys who bought one at the full price, dont worry. HP says HP.com buyers can call them for either a full refund or the difference between what you paid and the new price, and they are reportedly asking retail partners like Best Buy and Staples to do the same. These were $399 and $499 just a week or so back when HP made the $100 cut permanent, so thats $300 off in days !!

The memo to retailers says the new price kicks in on Saturday, August 20th, but Best Buy and Future Shop in Canada have already started selling at $99 and their sale runs till August 22nd. HP.com has run out of stock online, Walmart is almost empty, so its down to whatever the stores have left. Funny thing is, a white 64GB model is still sitting on HP’s US site at $600.

HP says they are not walking away from WebOS itself and will look at options for the software, so who knows where it ends up. For now, if you spot a TouchPad for $99, just grab it before its gone.
