Nokia Social App Upgraded to 1.3 Beta: Even Newer Version Coming

Nokia Social App was Nokia’s own Social app to enjoy Twitter and Facebook on your phone. After all we know neither Facebook nor Twitter has official clients for Symbian phones. Hence symbian users had to rely on third party apps as the Nokia Social client was barely useable. It was buggy, slow and not at all user friendly.

But the new 1.3 beta update has surprised us all. The app has become very stable, smooth and eye candy. In addition, the app brings the following new features:

Staying connected just got easier

See your friends’ status updates right from their Contacts Card—now you can see what friends are up to before you make a phone call.
From the Social application, a Linked Contacts indicator enables you to see which friends’ Contacts Cards are linked. Now you can manage your social networks more efficiently. No need to sync all your Social contacts at once, just pick and chose your closest friends and always know what they are up to.

Share your moment through photos

Add captions when sharing pictures from your camera to bring your photos to life.
Higher resolution picture upload—up to 4 MB—so what you share is clear and sharp.

I wouldn’t recommend you to use this app for Twitter as there’s a lot to be done before one can actually use it. But for Facebook, think no further. Go ahead and download from here.

Nokia Software Updater for Mac Finally Comes Out

After years of wait, Nokia has finally brought us the Nokia Software Updater for mac. Honestly, every time my Nokia phone had an update, I had to hunt for near by Windows laptops if the update wasn’t available Over-The-Air. It was really disastrous. Especially considering the amount of Nokia phones out there everywhere.

Well, now it’s finally here and that’s just great news. The application is a Release Candidate and supports device updates only. Application updates will be added soon. The development team is also encouraging users to submit feedback here so that the stable release will be bug free. Now that Nokia Software Updater for Mac is here, all we need to wait now is for the OVI suite for Mac !!!

Kasvopus Facebook Client Updated: Brings Notifications And More

Kasvopus App for Facebook has received a small update today bring some really needed features like notifications, dedicated icons for Home, Friends, Wall etc.

This new version also has the following changes:

Show notifications on startup (notifications can’t still be marked as read)
Smaller lower toolbar for the “Share status” button
“Kasvopus” title acts as a menu button to show:
- Home feed icon
- Friends list icon
- User wall icon
- Events icon
Friends and events lists are really basic and they don’t even have paging yet
Events view only show your current events without further details.

Although app is at very basic stage, it works flawlessly and real smooth. We’ve been really loving this app and we’re also impressed with speed of delivery of updates from the developer. We’ll be closely watching the progress and we will let you know.

Samsung Galaxy S II Available For Pre-Order At £599.99

AndroidCentral is reporting that the much awaited Samsung’s Galaxy S II is available for pre-order at play.co.uk and it’s sim free. £599.99 which rounds to $965 seems to be a little high but we all know Samsung Galaxy S II is a good investment. And don’t be disappointed with the price, it has just shown up for pre-order. Prices will come down to earth when its actually available. If you pre-order now, you get your order shipped by March 31st. So are you going to order one now or wait for later ?

Exclusive: iPhone 4 To Be Launched Via BSNL

Today we spoke to an officer from BSNL Head Office who was discussing the BSNL’s roadmap for this year. We asked him about the iPad plans and he said BSNL has been in talks with Apple for months on these plans which they introduced yesterday.

And he added that iPhone 4 will soon be introduced with BSNL in not less than a month’s time. The talks are really showing a positive sign, he added. But it’s not Final yet. When asked about data plans, he said what applies for iPad, applies for iPhone 4 too.

When asked if the iPhones will be locked with contract, he said, “Can’t Comment Now”.

With massive success of BSNL in 3G and the experience of service they have over others, its very likely that they get the deal from Apple. Now that they have introduced iPad data plans even before iPad launched officially, it makes sense to believe that BSNL has some insight to Apple’s work plan in India.

Isn’t this really great news ? We know how long it took for iPhone 3GS to come to India. Not to mention, the poor pricing and plans from Airtel/Vodafone really ruined it. With BSNL we see some good times ahead.

Verizon iPhone Coming on 3rd February ?

We know Apple is gearing up for a 4G iPhone on Verizon. We’ve seen enough rumors about it. Now BGR is now reporting that we might see the iPhone 4G launch on 3rd February. Recently Apple has blacked out vacations for it’s employees between 3rd and 6th February. So this could either be the iPhone 4G or the iPad 2 as its almost hit the product cycle.

Windows Phone 7 “NoDo” Update Imminent: “Mango” Later

Microsoft is reportedly almost done with their latest update for Windows Phone 7. Before you get your hopes up, let me tell you that this is only a minor update(“NoDo”) which brings cut/copy/paste and other small enhancements. Features like HTML5, multitasking will arrive only later in the Mango update according to Microsoft expert Paul Thurott.

The NoDo update should be rolled out anytime soon but consumers will get the taste of it only after their carriers rolls out after their round of testing. So that should be in no lesser than a month’s time. Mango update which may or may not be rolled out soon after NoDO update will bring HTML5 goodness to Windows Phones in addition to the update to Internet Explorer 9. Not to mention the update should also contain the silverlight package for these phones.
