One of the biggest shortcomings of Whatsapp was that it was limited to your smartphone. And that has been helping its competitors to eat Whatsapp’s fair share of customers fulfilling that drawback. I myself has been using the Telegram app a lot just because I could message from my computer. Well, Whatsapp has now put an end, well almost an end to that by releasing a web client that can work on the Google Chrome browser. Please note that it also needs you to be an Android Whatsapp user. Due to limitations on iOS, as Whatsapp say, the functionality cannot be enjoyed by those on iOS at the moment. ICFLIX and Microsoft Gulf Partners To Bring Surprises To Its Customers During This DSF
ICFLIX will be partnering with Microsoft Gulf this Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) to bring consumers a special treat. Any Windows Tablet bought between January 1st and January 31st will come with a 3-month premium subscription to ICFLIX for free in select retailers (Carrefour, Emax, Jumbo Electronics, Sharaf DG, Lulu Hypermarkets).
ICFLIX subscribers can access the online streaming service on up to five devices including smartphones, smart TVs, computers and tablets. They can choose from movies and TV shows in three extensive categories: Jazwood (Arabic content), Hollywood and Bollywood. Subtitles and alternative audio options are available to make sure the content is accessible for French, Arabic and English speakers across the region.
Carrefour customers during DSF will also be in for a surprise gift, as every smart TV purchase over 2500 AED will come with a Touchmate Windows tablet for and an ICFLIX 3-month subscription for free.
Apple Sends Out Invite For October 16th: iPads, Macs & Yosemite
Apple has sent out invite for another media event. The new event invite says “Its been way too long”. Hmm, its been a while since iMacs got an update. Not to forget the Mac Mini. But we cant rule out the fact that this is going to be definitely about iPads and Yosemite. But hey, the iPod line up could use some refresh. What are you excited for ?
Apple Releases iOS 8 Beta 3 And Yosemite Developer Preview 3
Apple has released the new beta for iOS 8 and Yosemeti today. The new beta comes expected fixes and updates. But the notable new feature is the iCloud drive whihc will let you store any kind of data in it. App developers can also use it to store their app data that isnt supported on iCloud. Other many new features include dark mode for Yosemite, the option to turn of Hand Off from phone, M7 Motion processor data in the Health app, recently deleted photos, new wallpapers, shared photo albums, wifi calling for supported carriers etc.
Other beta apps released today includes Xcode 6, Find My iPhone, Find My Friends, Pages, Numbers, Keynote etc. iOS 8 will be available this fall with the new iPhone.
This Could Be The iPhone 6 !!
Apple’s next generation of iPhone is expected to be out this fall. Unlike past upgrades, this year’s iPhone upgrade won’t be limited to just faster processor and better camera, but a larger screen possibly at 4.7″ is expected to be released. There are also strong rumours about a 5.5″ version of the iPhone which is expected to be released later this year. We’ve seen plenty of cases and frames pointing to this rumour about the large touch screen for a while now. To add to it, Sonny Dickson has just tweeted the image of the iPhone 6. He has an excellent track record with Apple leaks and has always been right. Yet, we cannot bet on it until its finally released. But until then, this is the best possible leak we’ve got.
Apart from the larger screen, iPhone 6 will feature the A8 processor, an advanced Camera, a larger battery. There are also rumours about Apple integrating NFC, Wireless Charging and improved LTE. iPhone 6 will be available this fall with iOS 8.
Apple Announces OS X Yosemite
Apple has just announced the new version OS X named Yosemite and its a pack of fantastic features. The Yosemite brings so many new interesting features that you will never look going back to another operating system anytime soon.
In OS X Yosemite, you’ll see what you’ve been seeon on iOS 7. The icons and the interface look very much alike and so are the features. Spotlight is completely revamped. Its powerful than before and more easy to use with suggestions and tight integration.
But the best feature I like from Apple OS X Yosemite is continuity. Lets say you’re composing a mail on your iPhone and then you walk near to your Mac, you can quickly fire up Mail on Mac and the mail you were typing is right on the Mac. The same works for web pages too. And it works in both ways. Now thats not all it, you can now send SMS from Mac or even make or receive calls from Mac too.
There are plenty of new features to Yosemite. You can join to beta test by signing up on Apple website. The OS will be available this fall.
Whatsapp Returns To Windows Phone Store
Whatsapp has finally returned to Windows Phone stores after weeks of unavailability from the same. Whatsapp which caused tremendous battery drainage on most or all Windows Phones was pulled by the developers a few weeks back. Several reasons were claimed for this action, but no one provided a reliable reason. Either way, it was the user who missed the absence of the app on the store.
After a long break, it is now back with a couple of new features. Whatsapp on Windows Phone still doesn’t match the functionality of Whatsapp on other platforms, but its slowly getting there. The new features include:

Apple Launches 8GB iPhone 5c In India: An iPhone We Don’t Want You To Buy
Apple has just announced their long flop iPhone model iPhone 5c in India. Eventhough, Apple has never accepted the failure of iPhone 5c, the sales numbers have been speaking on their behalf. In an attempt to further push the device into market, they have now luanched 8GB version of the iPhone 5c. It has been on sale in some foreign countries and today they have launched it in India as well. India has always been Apple’s dumping ground for iPhones. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t see the strong iPhone fans here who always buys the best iPhone models on day one.
The question is why we dont want you to buy this phone ? We would’ve nodded a bit if the iPhone 5c had the same hardware as iPhone 5s despite being in a plastic shell. iPhone 5c unfortunately has the same internals as in iPhone 5 which was released last year. Does that make its price any less ? Nope. iPhone 5c 8GB is priced at Rs 37,500/-. That’s right, an iPhone with last year’s hardware and storage as low as 8GB. Not to forget, an iPhone with 8GB only gives you close to 6GB of memory for your use. Sometimes even less.
Apart from this, iOS 8 will be soon announced on June 2nd at WWDC followed by new iPhone announcement in September. That will make your phone the one with a 2 year old hardware. Besides, we can easily bet that iOS 8 will further slow down the performance as it will bring more features. iOS is known for their fantastic apps. And that’s true in every aspect. But they’re also heavy. Apps themselves are huge in size and they tend to occupy more space as you use them everyday. Plus, the photos you take, the songs you sync/purchase, the videos and all other media will show no mercy to your phone’s storage capacity leaving you to struggle to balance them all.

Viber has just received its long awaited iOS 7 redesign. Its a little late considering when the iOS 7 was actualy released. But it looks like the update is well worth the wait. Samsung Galaxy S5 To Be Priced In India Between Rs 51-53,000
Samsung India has just launched the Samsung Galaxy S5 in India. The phone was first announced at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. THe phone sports a 5.1 inch HD AMOLED display, an eight core Exynos processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with expandable memory card slot, Android Kitkat, 16MP camera on the back with LED Flash that does full HD videos, a 2.1MP front facing camera, a finger print scanner and a 2800mAh battery.
Other notable features in the phone includes infrared for TV remote functionality, S-Health app, a heart rate sensor, 3G, WiFi, Bluettoth 4.0, USB 3.0 and NFC. Oh and the phone is also dust and water resistant. The phone sounds interesting with the specifications, but the design has been a great turn off to many. But you could still try to live with it by choosing the Shimmery white model or the Electric blue or the copper gold. Either way, ensure you have a budget that swings between Rs 51,000 to Rs 53,000/- ready. Still crazy for it ? Well then, mark your calendars for March 29th.
