Google Launches Its Cloud Service: Google Drive

Google has finally unveiled its cloud service called Google Drive available at drive.google.com . The name may confuse at first as one may directly think of Google’s map and navigation service. However, this is completely about cloud or online data storage. While people think of this as an iCloud competitor, we firmly believe that both are different. First difference being that the Drive client will ba available for all platforms including iOS, PC, Mac and Android.

Google is giving a free 5GB storage upon sign up and then users may pay for their choice of extra storage which goes up to 16TB. The cheapest plan is $2.5/pm for 20GB which is quite cheap. Now you can send large files on email by uploading it to Google Drive and simply drop a link to the file in email. The online access page supports opening up to 30 different file formats which is simply great. The only set back to the service is that Google will own everything thats put on Google Drive. Sometimes we do have to read that thing called privacy policy. But life is too short to read that. To download the Google Drive Android App, Click Here or scan the QR code below.

Apple Reports Another Record Quarter: 35.1 Million iPhones, 12Million iPads And More

Hero

Apple is minting money. With every quarter bringing astounding sales figures, the cash pile of this Cupertino company is huge enough to buy Nokia, Amazon and RIM together. Apple today announced their Q1 sales figures with iPhone dominating the sales with 35.1 million units followed by 12 million iPads and 7.7 million iPods. Total Mac sales crossed 4 million.

This quarter’s iPad sales didn’t fully reflect the new iPad sales as the new iPad has been in sale only for 28 days in the last quarter. Plus, new iPad is going for sale in more and more countries this quarter. So that will really reflect the acceptance of the new iPad by the world in the next quarter. Even if this fact exists, the current iPad sales report is  151% unit increase over the previous year.

Samsung Releases The Next Galaxy Teaser, Appears On Amazon For Preorder

Samsung has released a new teaser for the Galaxy SIII also known as the Next Galaxy. The new teaser doesn’t actually tease much except for a Galaxy which is shown for almost two thirds of the total video. But the teaser pokes at a special group of people where they referred to as the sheeps in the video. Well, you know who they meant. Samsung is really trying to create good buzz here about the next Galaxy and we’ve gotta agree here that they’re doing great.

That said, the Galaxy SIII is already available for preorder at Amazon.de (Amazon German). The listing mentions that the phone features a 4.7″ display which should be a HD display. The camera mentioned is 12MP. That means better instagram pictures. The preorder price is EUR 599. So, are you going to buy one ?? Or are you gonna pass this for the Next iPhone ?

Skype For Windows Phone Released

Skype is finally available for Windows Phone. It’s a bit surprising to see that even after Microsoft acquired it took so long to arrive. However, better late than never. The app supports a voice and video calling. Sorry Symbian users, I don’t think voice and video will come to Symbian anytime soon. The app’s metro UI looks really good. Other features include:

  • Portrait mode video calling
  • Support in 18 languages
  • Add new contacts (Skype and phone contacts)
  • Support for participating on audio conference calls
  • Call-in-progress notification
  • Ability to mark all messages as read
  • Block/unblock/view blocked contacts

Samsung Readying To Launch The Next Galaxy In Less Than 17 Hours !!

NextGalaxy

Samsung has launched a new teaser site with some hints and secret codes today. The site http://www.tgeltaayehxnx.com/ is where we would be seeing more details about the product tomorrow. It looks like Samsung is trying to create enough talk and attention for their launch. However, what puts us in confusion is the press invite Samsung sent out the other day for the next Galaxy launch. The invite said the launch was on May 3rd. The recent rumors also helped us conclude that Samsung had just more than the Galaxy SIII to showcase. Yes, we are talking about the much anticipated cloud service by Samsung here. Either way, we shall wait and see. If you’ve got clue of what we’ll see tomorrow, then be the first one to shout it at our comments section.

Samsung Galaxy S3 To Be Launched On May 3rd At London

1334557180

Samsung has just sent out the invitation for their next big most awaited launch of this year. The invitation which speaks less hints that its the launch of their next Galaxy smartphone which we strongly believe is the Galaxy S3 or whatever they might call the successor of renowned Galaxy S2 smartphone. As usual, the phone will launched in their Samsung Mobile Unpacked event. But, this time its happening in London on May 3rd. That’s right ! Its just two weeks from now.

We’ve seen plenty of rumors about the Galaxy SIII, our eyes are tired of seeing the mock ups and now on May 3rd we may see what Samsung has really got for us. The invitation shows a brushed metal finish. Lets hope that Samsung has added some premium feel to the device than the old plastic-y feeling on its predecessors. The phone is also rumored to have a larger screen than Galaxy S2 and smaller than Note. A HD display will not be a surprise and 32GB internal storage out of the box will be welcomed. Samsung always gives the best hardware for its high end Galaxy series, so a quad core processor and 1GB of RAM or higher is expected. The Camera is what we aren’t really sure of. Well lets wait and see. The launch ain’t that far after all.  So are you excited ?? Have you been holding off from your next smartphone purchase for the Galaxy SIII ? Let us know in the comment section.

Nokia Pokes Themselves And Other Brands Through This Latest Video Campaign

Last week we reported Nokia’s latest ad campaign where they call all smartphones or at least the iPhones as beta phones. The videos were pretty good and yes to some extent we have to agree that they were right. But then, they released Lumia 900 in the US through AT&T. Those Lumia 900s came with a data issue which resulted many pissed off users everywhere. That was a huge setback to Nokia as they almost proved the point what they were trying to tell through these videos. However, Nokia solved this bug quickly by releasing a fix way before the promised date. I know, its surprising. Not very Nokia there.

Now in this new ad campaign, Nokia stresses on the fact that all smartphones doesn’t have to look alike. Of course there’s this similar looking iPhone 4 & 4S, Most HTC phones and of course the Galaxy Series from Samsung which are no different. This ad campaign is for promoting Lumia and oh boy does Lumia 800/900 and N9 look alike ?? I guess so. While these idea of campaign is real good, I think Nokia may have to be little careful. What you say ??
