WhatsApp For iPhone 5 Submitted To App Store

iPhone 5 was announced on September 12th and started shipping to customers on September 21st. Many popular apps were optimized for the iPhone 5 even before it was available for the customers. And some of them immediately after. However, it’s surprising to see apps like Whatsapp and Skype still not being updated for the iPhone 5 to take advantage of the new large screen. The list of frustrated users are growing day by day. If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them like me. However, it may be a good news to some of you to know that the Whatsapp iPhone 5 optimised version dubbed as ver. 2.8.6 is now submitted to the App Store for approval. You read that right. Finally !! Here’s a screenshot in full resolution which was tweeted by one of the beta tester. Click on the picture below to see it in the full iPhone 5 resolution(640×1136).

Prior to Ver. 2.8.6, Whatsapp also seeded ver. 2.8.5, however that version was only meant for internal testing. A conversation with Robert Webbe on Twitter revealed that ver. 2.8.6 was already submitted to Apple for approval. This version will probably fix the missing profile picture on iOS 6 as well. Now it’s up to Apple to approve the app at the earliest and solve our app crisis.
