Samsung Claims To Have Sold 20M Galaxy S3 In 100 Days

Samsung’s best selling smartphone Galaxy S3 has achieved yet another milestone. Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S3 has crossed 20 million sales in just 100 days from launch making it one of the fastest selling Galaxy device ever. Samsung Galaxy S3 which competes with the One X from HTC and the iPhone from Apple went on sale in late May and if you remember, it had already crossed the 10 million mark in its first 50 days. So the second 10 million came in at pretty much the same pace, thats roughly 200,000 phones a day!!

Out of the 20 million, 6 million were sold in Europe, 4.5 million in Asia, 4 million in North America and 2.5 million in Samsung’s home market Korea. For comparison the Galaxy S2 took around 10 months to get to 20 million and the original Galaxy S took 17 months. JK Shin who heads Samsung’s mobile division said “The GALAXY S III has enjoyed tremendous attention and popularity since its launch in May, and we are thrilled with its success.”

Interesting timing too. Apple is expected to unveil the next iPhone at a press event in San Francisco on Wednesday, so looks like Samsung wanted these numbers out before that. Lets see if the S3 keeps up this pace once the new iPhone is out. Stay tuned.
