Nokia N96 gets a update to v30.101
Nokia N96 today received a firmware update to version v30.101. Users can update their phones to the new version through Nokia Software Updater software or through the OTA(Over The Air) feature. The phone features UDP(User Data Prevention) which will safe guard your data. Howver, its always good to create a back up. There is no changelog from Nokia yet, so we dont officially know what got fixed. The NSU package doing the rounds is RM-247_EMEA_30.101_v08.00.exe, published on 07/12/2009, and its a hefty 72.19 MB download.
Nokioteca has spotted it on just two EMEA product codes so far, 0543716 (EURO 2 Warm Titanium) and 0567000 (EURO 2 Black), so if your code isnt on that list yet you will have to sit tight.
The last big jump for the N96 was v30.033 back in July, and that one was just a 6MB over the air update of bug fixes and optimisations. Steve Litchfield over at AllAboutSymbian said the User Data Preservation worked fine on his handset then. Whether v30.101 does the same, we cant say yet. We’re trying to pull it onto our N96 and we’ll report back on speed and free RAM. So stay tuned!!
