The new nokia messaging im now supports google talk chat and yahoo messenger. It also allowa us to login invisibly, set statuses etc. The client now also supports the e71 and e63 and in future more devices will be supported. Go to betalabs.nokia.com to get your copy now from your phone.
This is version 2.0 of the im beta, posted yesterday on the beta labs blog by Davis Fields of the Nokia Messaging team. Until now the client was an e75 only affair since the end of june and it did only Yahoo Messenger and Ovi chat, so google talk plus two more qwerty phones in one go is a decent jump.
Its a java app. If you install from the pc you need both files, the jad which is only 3 kb and the jar at 485 kb for the e71 and e63, and Nokia PC Suite handles it. And do remember to uninstall the old version first, else the new one wont install.
Inside you get yahoo and google specific emoticons, graphics and sounds, background notifications so you can keep chatting while you do other stuff, and saved conversations. Ovi friends avatars show up too. No MSN or AIM yet and people in the comments are already asking for them. Nokia says more devices and communities are coming to all parts of Nokia Messaging, so stay tuned.
