Nimbuzz For Android Brings Push Notifications

And finally push notifications are here. Nimbuzz just updated their client for Android devices and has brought two new cool features. All devices running Android 2.2 or higher can now enjoy push notifications along with message delivery notifications(will work on all versions). Message delivery notifications is a feature previously seen on apps like a few other chat clients. Once you send a message, you get a single tick when it reaches the Nimbuzz servers and a double tick when its actually delivered to the person on the other side. Dont confuse it with a read receipt though, it only means delivered.

Till now you had to keep the app running in the background to stay online which isnt really kind to your battery. With the new version(2.0.8) you can close the app completely and your contacts will still see you online, and you get notified the moment a message comes in. Nimbuzz says this should give you longer battery life and eat less of your data plan too. To turn it on, head to Settings, then Notifications and hit Enable.

There is also an option to sync your Nimbuzz contacts with your phone’s address book so you can start a chat or call right from the contacts app. The update is free on the Android Market. Go grab it and let us know how the push works for you!!
