Apple Airs Two New TV Ads Featuring John Malkovich

Apple has just aired new iPhone 4S ads featuring Siri again, D’uh !! The new ad features familiar face John Malkovich who is having a casual talk with Siri. Apple has recently started featuring actors in their ads. A few weeks back we saw Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel talking to Siri and now this. For some reason, I don’t like these ads as its not that catchy as the previous ones were they showed common people using the phone.

What do you think of these new ads ??

Samsung Has Received 9 Million Pre-Orders For The Galaxy SIII

Samsung recently announced the Samsung Galaxy SIII at a special event held at London. The new flagship is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy SII which has been doing great in the market with over 20 million devices sold to date. Galaxy SIII comes with a 4.8″ Super AMOLED display with approximately 306ppi. The phone runs Android 4.0.4(Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by Exynos 1.4 Quad core processor. RAM is 1GB and Camera is still 8MP like its predecessor. As per Engadget, Korean Economic Daily reported that an unnamed Samsung official has told that the SIII has managed to get over 9 million pre-orders already. If that’s true, then its a very good indication that the phone is going to be a huge hit worldwide. Not to mention, the phone has not been announced for the US market yet. Currently, S3 competes against the HTC’s One X and Sony is Xperia S. And if some of you would agree against Nokia’s Lumia 900 and Pureview 808. Although I wouldn’t really count them as competition. Galaxy S3 is currently available for pre-order in many countries already with price starting from $799 for the base model. The phone is available for pre-order in India now at the Samsung e-Store. A new invite issued by Samsung indicates that the phone would be launched in India this May 31st.

Next iPhone Will Sport A 4″ Display, Production To Start In June

Its that time of the year again. We are gearing up for the launch of new iPhone, new iOS and probably new Macs as well. We are expecting that dream form factor for iPhone now and lets accept it, we need a big screen. The competitors, especially Android manufacturers have been very generous and has provided us with plenty of devices in various screen sizes. Even though such a collection of choice won’t be available from Apple, we’ll be more than happy to have something thats a little bit more than the current size. Wall Street journal is reporting that the next iPhone will have a 4″ display. They claim that Apple is already on it and production is set to begin in June. Reuters also had their fair share of input to the rumor mill with claims that the display will be 4″ corner to corner.

Facebook Unveils Pages Manager App: Dedicated App For Managing Pages

The billion dollar social networking giant Facebook has unveiled a new app for iOS to manage your Facebook page. Now you can use this new app to post updates, track its reach to customers, get notified when a new activity happens on your page etc. Even though we have a dedicated Facebook, it doesn’t really do well when it comes to managing pages. Besides, you don’t want to mix your personal life and work life. The new app is just a 2.9MB download and is absolutely free. The app is being rolled out to every store in every country. At the time of writing this post, the app is available in US and Canadian app store. Their links are given below.

A Facebook spokesperson has told MyMobileScoop that, “This is an app that Facebook is testing that helps owners of small to medium Pages more easily manage their Facebook presence.”

We would like to bring into your notice that the US Store where we mentioned the app is available is actually available on the Australian app store. Apologies for the confusion.

New Firefox Beta For Android Gets A Facelift: You May Wanna Install It This Time

Firefox may be everyone’s favorite browser on PC. But its not the same on Android phones. Most people use the default browser while some use Chrome or Dolphin browser. It was mainly because Firefox consumed more space and used more RAM while running. And to be honest, the look wasn’t very appealing either. Even though its not important for a browser, its still an app we use everyday. The new Firefox Beta has new redesigned interface which has made things interesting. Besides, it now boasts faster load times which is another plus for this new release. If you still love flash content, then you should be more than happy to know that even thats covered. The new features are currently for smartphones only and tablet users will see it soon. Here’s the original change-log listed below.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Announced: Its About Those Little Things

The Samsung Galaxy S3 was announced on May 3rd in a special unpacked event held at London. The Galaxy S3 was one of the biggest and most awaited announcements in the Androidsphere. A lot of leaks and rumors had kept the release a big suspense and everyone has been really waiting to see the new leap forward in Samsung’s Galaxy series. Many people have been disappointed with the announcement as it did not meet their expectations especially in terms of hardware. I think that Galaxy series especially the S2 is still sitting on the top of Android devices. There isn’t much you can really go forward in terms of hardware. Yet Galaxy S3 has made huge improvements where attention was really needed like the display, processor and the battery.

The Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.8″ SUPER AMOLED HD Display with 720X1280 resolution. The screen also has 306ppi which will make the text look sharp and crisp. The protection on the screen is using the Corning Gorilla Glass 2. So you don’t have to really worry about mild scratches and scuffs. The The Galaxy S3 comes with a Exynos 4212 Quad Core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz,1GB RAM, 8MP Camera that does 1080p video at 30fps.a 1.9MP front facing camera, Android 4.0.4, FM Radio, WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct, WiFi HotSpot, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, HSDPA upto 21Mbps and HSUPA upto 5.76Mbps. The phone only supports Micro Sim card. It also comes with a dropbox 50GB online storage option just in case the internal memory and the 64GB MicroSD card support isn’t enough. The device comes in Marble white and Pebble blue. The price is going to be a little high probably starting $750 for the base model.

Samsung also introduced a new voice command/dictation feature called S Voice. Its not a direct Siri competitor as you might have thought already. But it does pretty decent job to perform all those basic activities like setting alarm etc. It could get better if Samsung really plans on working them.

Another interesting feature is the Direct Call functionality. Usually when we engage in long instant message or just text message with a friend, we then try to call them and continue the conversation. Well, with this new Direct Call feature one can simply raise the phone to the ears from instant message window or text message window and the phone makes the call automatically saving you the steps of exiting the app and then opening the contacts to find and call the person. Sweet, isn’t it ??

Smart Alert is another new feature on the Galaxy S3. The phone will now vibrate when it understands that you have been away from the phone. Say for instance you were in the next room and suddenly you come back and grab your phone. You may put it to your pocket or bag without turning on the display which may actually have some notifications pending for you. Well, with smart play it alerts you when it detects certain motion with a vibration to get your attention. So you may not miss anything anytime anywhere.

We all are very familiar with tagging. But just naming a person aint enough. What if you wanted to send a personal comment to that person ? Or what if you wanted to call her and tell her how good she looked ?? With smart tags, the tag actually brings up a plethora of actions like calling, texting, email and instant messages.

AllShare Cast and AllShare Play lets you play anything wirelessly on the other devices like TV, computers etc. And S beam lets you share data between two Galaxy S3 by simply placing Galaxy S3 back to back. And no, its not the magic of NFC but WiFi direct.

These are not features that you usually demand from a phone. But they are those that you really wished if your smartphone had. And I honestly believe that Samsung has really given attention to cover those simple little things.

Nokia Pokes Themselves And Other Brands Through This Latest Video Campaign

Last week we reported Nokia’s latest ad campaign where they call all smartphones or at least the iPhones as beta phones. The videos were pretty good and yes to some extent we have to agree that they were right. But then, they released Lumia 900 in the US through AT&T. Those Lumia 900s came with a data issue which resulted many pissed off users everywhere. That was a huge setback to Nokia as they almost proved the point what they were trying to tell through these videos. However, Nokia solved this bug quickly by releasing a fix way before the promised date. I know, its surprising. Not very Nokia there.

Now in this new ad campaign, Nokia stresses on the fact that all smartphones doesn’t have to look alike. Of course there’s this similar looking iPhone 4 & 4S, Most HTC phones and of course the Galaxy Series from Samsung which are no different. This ad campaign is for promoting Lumia and oh boy does Lumia 800/900 and N9 look alike ?? I guess so. While these idea of campaign is real good, I think Nokia may have to be little careful. What you say ??
