Apple has just released iOS 7 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The update requires iTunes 11.1 for Mac and Windows. So if you don’t have it installed yet, please go to the link below. www.apple.com/iTunes Once you’ve installed iTunes 11.1, connect your iPhone and click on check for update after selecting iPhone in iTunes. Or skip the computer altogether and do it over the air from Settings > General > Software Update on the phone. You need around 3GB of free space on the device though, so clear out some stuff first.
Its free and works on iPhone 4 and above, iPad 2 and above, iPad mini and the 5th gen iPod Touch. Apple pushed it out at 10am Pacific time, and as expected their servers are taking a beating. Lots of people are getting an “error occurred downloading update” message and some folks in the UK are seeing iTunes show 9 hours for the download!! So if it fails for you, dont panic, just keep trying.
iOS 7 is a complete redesign and Apple says there are over 200 new features including Control Center, AirDrop, a new Camera app with filters and iTunes Radio (US only for now). iTunes 11.1 also brings iTunes Radio and Genius Shuffle to the desktop.
